‘Two of our trustees are travelling to Zambia this month to assess the situation there. A national drought disaster has been declared because of El Nino and climate change. This south African country has had a prolonged dry spell instead of the usual expected rains, so that half of the crops planted have died and over 1,000,000 farming households will be affected. Because Zambia relies heavily on hydroelectricity their electric supply has also been affected. By visiting a hospital and orphanage there we hope to be able to assess how Jacob’s Well Appeal will be able to support them in this difficult time.’
