As hurricane Melissa headed for Cuba, yesterday I rang Rob Miller, our partner from the charity Cuba Solidarity to get his take on what could happen. He said people were preparing for a once in a life-time storm, maybe the worst hurricane in living memory. When something like this hits a poverty stricken country like Cuba where the infrastructure is weak and buildings are flimsy, many people lose their lives and their livelihood and will be in need of medical and food aid. Two of our containers full of medical aid arrived in Cuba just a couple of weeks ago, with another Cuba container scheduled to leave our yard in a couple weeks time. If you would like to give to help finance sending urgent medical aid to Cuba at this time, please reference donations with “Cuba”.
